Hook is a finalist for the second annual award.

PORTLAND, Ore. - Laurel Hook, Managing Shareholder of Stahancyk, Kent & Hook’s Portland office, was named a finalist Friday for the second annual Daily Journal of Commerce Leadership in Law award. The honor was created last year to pay tribute to long-standing members in Oregon’s legal community.

“It’s a tremendous honor to see my name and this firm mentioned with these individuals and their practices,” Hook said of the other finalists. “This is such a prestigious group, and I want to thank the DJC for thinking enough of Stahancyk, Kent & Hook to include us in that category.”

Hook specializes in complex divorce litigation, custody matters and estate planning, and is a member of both the Oregon State Bar and Washington State Bar associations. An alumna of the University of Oregon and Seattle University School of Law, she has been with Stahancyk, Kent & Hook since 1999, being elected a shareholder in 2004. Among her accomplishments, Hook was named to the Portland Business Journal’s yearly “Forty Under 40” award list. The distinction lists leading business men and women, under the age of 40, in and around the Portland area. SuperLawyers Magazine, a national publication that honors top attorneys from every state, has named Hook a Rising Star for the past four consecutive years. No more than 2.5 percent of attorneys for a state are named to the list. She has volunteered with Child Centered Solutions, recently named among the top 25 education nonprofit organizations in Oregon by the Portland Business Journal. Last February, Hook conducted an energetic and informative presentation at a continuing legal education seminar at Lewis and Clark Law School. Her presentation, titled “Divorce and the Role of the Business Lawyer”, focused on the impact family law can have on small, closely held businesses.
