Each Friday in the fall, SK&H hosts the Lincoln High School Football Team for a pre-game feast. The players get needed nourishment, a memento for each game (such as a custom-made football card or a team logo yo-yo) and pep talk from Jody and their coach. We like to think that our spirit gives them just the lift they need, and of course our famous mac and cheese helps.
The same care and planning we take in doing our legal work goes into these pre-game meals. We consulted professionals, including Ingrid Skoog, Director of Sports Nutritionist at University of Oregon, and experts at Sports Lab in Portland, so our chef could prepare appropriate and nutritious meals. The experts tell us that young athletes should be eating about 3.5 to 4 hours before competing. The meal should be high in carbohydrates and include a lean protein. For example: mac and cheese, bread, fruit, an oatmeal cookie and milk, water or Gatorade.![]()
